Hawaiian rolls are buttery and addictive pleasures. They are easy to pull apart, with layers of Hawaiian ham, caramelized onions, and Swiss in between the buns. If you want to prepare the best ham for these rolls, you can do so by using pasture-raised pork. These mouthwatering Hawaiian rolls are amazing delicacies for just about any party and they are super easy to make.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Total time for a dozen prep: 55 mins

Ingredients

Preparing Caramelized Onions

  • 1 large, thinly sliced onions
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil

Poppy-Butter Toppings

  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic.
  • 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds

Sliders

  • 12 small Hawaiian rolls
  • ¼ c. mayonnaise
  • ¼ c. honey mustard
  • 2 lb. deli sliced ham
  • 1 lb. sliced Swiss cheese

Directions

Preparing caramelized onions: In a large skillet, place some oil and bring it to medium heat. Add onions and season it with salt. Make it cook slowly by reducing the heat. Stir occasionally until you get jammy and caramelized onions. Let it cook for 25 minutes and allow it to cook.

Making poppy butter topping: Preheat the oven to get to 350 degrees. Using a medium bowl, add poppy seeds, butter, garlic and Worcestershire. Mix the ingredients.

Prepare sliders: split the buns in half and place the bottom part of the bun on a baking sheet. Add mayo on the bottom half buns and then place ham on top. Add Swiss cheese and another layer of ham. Add honey, onions, and mustard and spread it all over the ham and cover it with the other half of the bun. Brush the poppy seed dressing on the bun until all the buns are well coated.

Bake them for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese melts and the buns turn to a golden brown.

Pasture-raised pigs are bred in a natural environment which results in great tasting meat. Ham prepared from pasture-raised pigs is richer than a slice of factory-farmed meat. So, support your local farmers by getting quality tasting ham that will make you enjoy your Hawaiian Ham.
